Parking, Reversing & Roadside StopsStandalone practice
When parking downhill beside a curb, how should the front wheels be turned?
Blue A faces downhill beside a curb; the side-profile inset identifies the slope, and A's badge is beside its car.
Correct answer: Toward the curb.
Why
Turn the front wheels toward the curb when parked downhill. Before leaving, stop the engine, put the transmission in park or a suitable gear, and remove the key. Set the parking brake unless there is a reasonable possibility of freezing, as 13 AAC 02.480 specifies. The curb provides a backup if the vehicle moves.
