Passing target: 80% (40/50)
B is passing A on the left on a clear two-way road. What should A’s driver do?
Blue A travels east in its normal right-hand lane. Silver B is temporarily using the opposing lane to pass A. The yellow centre line is broken and no oncoming vehicle is shown.
Correct answer: Do not speed up; keep right and make room for B
Why
Do not increase speed until the overtaking vehicle has completely passed. ICBC advises helping the other driver return safely by slowing down and making room. On an audible overtaking signal, the law requires giving way to the right in this ordinary left-passing situation. A’s slight rightward path remains within its lane.
