Passing target: 80% (40/50)
May the driver of a car move alongside a motorcycle within the same traffic lane?
Blue car A follows motorcyclist B in the right lane of a divided road with two lanes in this direction. The adjacent lane is clear.
Correct answer: No. Give the motorcycle the whole lane and pass in another lane
Why
Give a motorcycle the whole lane. Riders need room to manage poor surfaces, maintain visibility and change position within the lane. A rider travelling toward one side of the lane is not inviting a car to share the remaining space. Use a separate lane only when a pass is safe and lawful; otherwise stay behind with an adequate following gap.
