The service brake pedal does not slow your car as expected. Which response is safest?
Correct answer: Ease off the gas, pump the brakes, then use the parking brake gently.
Why
Take your foot off the accelerator. Pumping a failed brake pedal may restore pressure. If needed, use an appropriate lower gear and apply the parking brake gradually, releasing it if the vehicle skids. Look for a safe stopping place and do not continue driving until the brakes are repaired. This differs from normal emergency braking with working ABS.
