Traffic Signals & Road MarkingsStandalone practice
All traffic-signal lights at an intersection are dark because of a failure. No police officer is directing traffic. What should you do?
A and B approach a junction with blank signals and painted stop lines.
Correct answer: Stop and proceed as at an all-way STOP.
Why
Stop and use the same rules as an all-way STOP. Yield to vehicles and pedestrians with priority and proceed when safe. Follow a police officer’s directions if an officer is controlling the intersection. A dark, inactive pedestrian beacon is a different device from this failed traffic signal.
