Passing target: 80% (40/50)
An emergency vehicle responding with its warning lights or siren approaches behind you. You are on an ordinary two-way road where the right curb is the closest roadway edge. What must you do?
On an ordinary two-way road, a white-and-blue box ambulance approaches behind blue car A with red warning lights flashing and its siren sounding. The roadway edge to A’s right is clear.
Correct answer: Pull to the nearest edge and stop, clear of intersections.
Why
Yield, pull parallel and as close as reasonable to the closest curb edge, clear of the intersection, and stop until the emergency vehicle passes. Follow a police officer’s different direction if given. In this example the closest edge is on your right; Florida’s rule is not a universal instruction to cross all lanes to the right.
