Regulatory, Lane & Parking SignsStandalone practice
A red octagon displays the white word STOP. What must a driver do?

Correct answer: Stop completely at the stop line or, if none, before the crosswalk.
Why
Stop at the marked stop line. If there is no line, stop before the near-side crosswalk. If neither is present, stop at the point nearest the intersecting roadway where you can see approaching traffic before entering. After stopping, yield to traffic in the intersection or close enough to be an immediate hazard. Follow a police officer’s direction where applicable.
