Safe & Responsible DrivingStandalone practice
An officer stops your car. You and your passenger have applied tint on your side windows, and both can operate them normally. What does Hawaii law require?
Correct answer: Both of you must fully lower your windows.
Why
Drivers and passengers in a vehicle with applied tint must fully lower their windows during a law-enforcement traffic stop. An exception applies when a physical disability or mechanical failure prevents this, provided the driver communicates or cooperates by other reasonably available means. The requirement took effect May 29, 2025.
