Parking, Reversing & Roadside StopsStandalone practice
You parallel park at the right curb on a two-way public road. How close must the right-hand wheels be to that curb?
An empty two-way road has a right curb and sidewalk. The card asks for the final wheel position when parallel parking. No parked car, wheel-to-curb gap or dimension is shown.
Correct answer: Within 18 inches
Why
Keep the right-hand wheels parallel to and within 18 inches of the right curb. Where there is no curb, park as close as practicable to the right edge of the right shoulder. The 18-inch curb rule is not a universal measurement from an uncurbed pavement edge.
