Parking, Reversing & Roadside StopsStandalone practice
You intend to leave your car parked near a railway crossing, not temporarily load or unload it. What minimum distance must you keep from the nearest rail?
A two-way road crosses a single railroad track. Crossbucks and rails are visible; no parked vehicle or rail-clearance bracket is shown.
Correct answer: At least 50 feet.
Why
Do not park within 50 feet of the nearest rail at a railway crossing. This differs from the 15- to 50-foot range for a required traffic stop before crossing. Never stop or park on the tracks, and leave the crossing clear.
