Parking, Reversing & Roadside StopsStandalone practice
When may a driver back a vehicle on an ordinary roadway?
Correct answer: Only when it is safe and does not interfere with traffic.
Why
Back only when you can do so safely without interfering with other traffic. Check around and behind the vehicle, move slowly, and stop if anyone enters your path. Backing is prohibited on the roadway or shoulder of a controlled-access highway; if you miss an exit, use the next one.
