What condition is essential before backing a vehicle safely?
Correct answer: A clear path, with no one endangered or blocked.
Why
Check behind and around the vehicle before backing, then move slowly while continuing to observe the path. Use mirrors and any camera as aids, not substitutes for a complete check. Do not back into an occupied path or use a freeway shoulder to reverse toward a missed exit.
