An Indiana driver aged 21 or older is operating a moving car. When may the driver hold a phone to make a call?
Correct answer: Only for an exception, such as a 911 emergency call.
Why
A driver may hold or use a phone to call 911 for a bona fide emergency. For a driver 21 or older, hands-free or voice-operated phone use is also an exception to the general device restriction; that does not authorize an ordinary handheld call. Drivers under 21 have a stricter use prohibition with only the 911 exception.
