Traffic Signals & Road MarkingsStandalone practice
A two-way road has a broken yellow line beside the driver's lane. What does that marking mean?
In this example, B represents the driver described in the question. Silver B is beside the broken yellow line; blue A is beside the solid line on the opposite side.
Correct answer: Drivers on this side may pass when it is safe to do so.
Why
A broken yellow center line separates opposing directions and can permit passing when your side is broken. It does not override signs, sight-distance restrictions or the need for enough clear space to finish without interfering with another vehicle.
