Observation, Speed & SpaceStandalone practice
Where should a defensive driver direct attention while still monitoring nearby traffic?
Correct answer: Scan about 20 to 30 seconds ahead for hazards.
Why
The manual recommends looking 20–30 seconds ahead for developing hazards. Keep scanning nearby traffic, mirrors, intersections and the sides of the road as well. Looking far ahead does not mean staring at one point or neglecting an immediate hazard.
