A school-zone sign displays a lower speed limit WHEN FLASHING, and its lights are flashing. How should you choose your speed?
Correct answer: Obey the lower posted limit, and slow further if needed.
Why
Obey the active posted school-zone limit and reduce speed further when children, visibility, traffic or another hazard requires it. The stated sign’s flashing condition activates its lower limit. Other school-zone signs can state different conditions, so read and obey the actual control rather than assuming one statewide trigger.
