On an undivided road, a school bus is stopped with its red lights flashing to receive or discharge children. What must drivers meeting or overtaking it do?
School bus B is stopped facing left on an undivided two-lane road with red warning lamps flashing and its stop arm extended. Blue A follows B; silver C approaches from the front in the opposite lane.
Correct answer: Stop until the bus moves or its lights and stop arm are off.
Why
Stop before reaching the bus. Remain stopped until the bus resumes motion OR both its red visual signals and stop arm are no longer actuated. Continue cautiously and watch for children who could still enter the road. The separate-roadway exception does not apply to this undivided road, even if it has more than two lanes.
