Passing target: 80% (24/30)
Your vehicle stalls on railroad tracks and a train is approaching. What should you do first?
Blue A is stalled on the railroad tracks. Locomotive B approaches from the left, facing right. The roadway crossing has a crossbuck and YIELD assembly, with metal backs for the opposite approach. No pedestrian escape route appears in the question.
Correct answer: Get out and go away from the tracks, toward the train
Why
Get everyone out immediately and move away from the tracks at an angle toward the direction the train is coming from. Do not run along the tracks or stand beside the vehicle. This helps avoid debris thrown forward by a collision. From a safe place, call the posted railroad emergency number or 911. Do not return or try restarting until the dispatcher says it is safe.
