What distances apply to dimming high beams for an approaching vehicle and an ordinary vehicle you are following?
Correct answer: Within 500 feet approaching and 200 feet following.
Why
Use a beam that avoids glare within 500 feet of an approaching vehicle. Do not use the upper beam within 200 feet of a vehicle ahead except while overtaking and passing as the statute provides. The exception is not permission to blind an oncoming driver; both duties still apply.
