Traffic Signals & Road MarkingsStandalone practice
For an ordinary overtake of another motor vehicle, what do double solid yellow center lines indicate?
A and B approach in opposite directions beside double solid yellow lines.
Correct answer: Opposing traffic; do not cross them to pass.
Why
Double solid yellow center lines separate opposite directions and prohibit an ordinary pass across the center line in either direction. Louisiana separately permits a bicycle pass in a no-passing zone only when it is safe and the required clearance can be maintained. Do not confuse that limited exception with permission to overtake an ordinary motor vehicle.
