Passing target: 80% (32/40)
Traffic signals are absent. A pedestrian is crossing your roadway in a marked crosswalk, and another vehicle has stopped for them. What must you do?
A pedestrian is in the marked crosswalk ahead. A silver car has stopped in the adjacent lane, and the blue learner approaches behind the crossing. There are no traffic signals or chosen passing path.
Correct answer: Stop and yield; do not pass the vehicle stopped for them.
Why
Without operating traffic signals, stop and yield to a pedestrian crossing the roadway you are using or turning onto. Do not overtake a vehicle stopped at a marked crosswalk or an unmarked intersection crosswalk for a pedestrian. Pedestrians must not step so suddenly into a vehicle’s path that yielding is impossible, but drivers still owe due care.
