Passing target: 80% (24/30)
On a two-way road, a solid yellow center line is on your side. What does it normally mean for passing another ordinary motor vehicle?
Blue A and silver B face opposite directions on a two-lane road. The yellow center marking is solid on A’s side and broken on B’s side. A represents the driver described in the question.
Correct answer: Do not cross it to pass
Why
A solid yellow center line on your side prohibits an ordinary pass across it. Maine separately permits passing a bicycle or roller skier in a no-passing zone when safe, while maintaining at least three feet of clearance. A similar, separately stated exception applies to passing a pedestrian safely with at least three feet. Those exceptions do not permit an unsafe pass or a routine pass of a motor vehicle.
