Licensing & Test ReadinessStandalone practice
A 17-year-old Maryland provisional driver wants to drive alone to meet friends at 1 a.m. No listed work, school or organized-activity exception applies. Is the trip permitted?
Correct answer: No; the midnight-to-5-a.m. restriction applies.
Why
An under-18 provisional driver may not drive between midnight and 5 a.m. unless an applicable exception is met. The law allows qualifying supervision by a licensed driver at least 21 and specified travel connected with a job, official school activity, organized volunteer program or athletic event or related training. A personal trip to meet friends does not become an exception simply because the driver travels alone.
