At an intersection with no operating traffic signal, a pedestrian is in the crosswalk on your half of the road. What must you do?
A approaches a marked intersection crosswalk beside stopped B. A pedestrian is in the crosswalk on the cars’ half of the road. A is still behind B; no answer marks appear.
Correct answer: Stop and allow the pedestrian to cross safely.
Why
Stop for the pedestrian in the crosswalk on your half of the roadway. Maryland also requires the stop when the pedestrian is in the adjacent lane of the opposite half. An intersection crosswalk need not be painted. Never overtake and pass a vehicle stopped for a pedestrian at a marked crosswalk or an unmarked intersection crosswalk.
