You collide with an unattended parked vehicle. After stopping, you cannot locate its operator or owner. What does Michigan law require as the alternative?
Correct answer: Report the crash to the police without delay.
Why
After striking an unattended vehicle, stop and try to locate and notify the operator or owner, giving the required names and addresses. If the operator or owner cannot be located, MCL 257.620 requires reporting forthwith to the nearest or most convenient police officer. Do not treat a note alone as a substitute.
