You are driving to an address that you do not know, and your phone shows the route in a map app. Which way of using the phone is legal while the car is moving?
Correct answer: Keep the phone in a mount, and follow the map without typing on it while you drive.
Why
When you hold a phone, one hand is off the wheel and your eyes are often off the road, and distraction is a factor in at least a quarter of Minnesota crashes. Set your route before you drive and put the phone in a mount; a navigation device may be mounted near the bottom of the windshield. Voice commands, or a single touch to start or stop a function, are allowed, but typing and scrolling are not.
