Licensing & Test ReadinessStandalone practice
Maya is 16 and has a Minnesota instruction permit. Her parents are at work. Which person may supervise her on a practice drive?
Correct answer: Her 22-year-old cousin, who has a valid license and sits in the front passenger seat
Why
A permit holder under 18 may drive only with a parent, a guardian, a certified driver education instructor or another licensed driver aged 21 or older in the seat beside them. The permit holder must not use a cell phone while driving, even hands-free, and all people in the car must wear seat belts or ride in child restraints. These limits give a new driver close help from an experienced adult.
