Regulatory, Lane & Parking SignsStandalone practice
You stop at a red eight-sided sign with the word STOP. Traffic on the cross street has no stop sign. A pedestrian is crossing in front of you, and a car on the cross street is close to the intersection. What should you do next?

Correct answer: Stay stopped until the pedestrian and the close car have gone, then go with care
Why
At a stop sign, stop fully at the stop line, or before you enter the intersection if there is no line. Then yield to people who are crossing and to cross traffic that is near enough to be a hazard. A full stop and a second look give you time to see a car, a bicycle or a person that you did not see on the approach.
