After a picnic, your passenger wants to bring home a bottle of wine that is half full. The cork has been pushed back in. Where in your car may the bottle legally ride while you drive on the highway?
An interior cutaway of A shows the passenger seats and trunk. The partly used wine bottle described in the stem has not been assigned a position.
Correct answer: In the trunk, since it is outside the area where the driver and passengers ride.
Why
You must not drink alcohol or have an open container of alcohol inside a vehicle on a public street or highway, and you must not let your passengers do so either. The rule keeps drinking out of the vehicle and removes the temptation to drink while you travel. The same idea applies to opened cannabis products, which also belong in the trunk.
