Why does a vehicle continue traveling before it comes to a complete stop?
Blue A travels right on a straight road. The card says that A needs to stop, without showing a stopping-distance value.
Correct answer: Perception, reaction and braking all take distance.
Why
Total stopping distance includes perception and reaction before the braking distance itself. The vehicle keeps moving while you recognize the hazard and decide to brake. Following too closely removes that response space even when the brakes and tires are working correctly.
