Weather, Visibility & EmergenciesStandalone practice
At night you drive into fog. You can still see the edge of the road, but only a short distance ahead. What should you do?
A travels into visible fog at night. The roadway fades into mist ahead, leaving only a short visible distance.
Correct answer: Slow down, keep your headlights on low beam, and be ready to stop.
Why
Fog hides slow or stopped vehicles until you are close, so your speed must let you stop within the distance you can see. Missouri law requires your headlights to be on in fog, even in daytime. If the fog becomes so thick that you cannot see, leave the roadway completely, stop, and keep your lights and emergency flashers on.
