Licensing & Test ReadinessStandalone practice
Maya is 14 and wants to start supervised driving practice as early as Missouri allows. At what age can she first get an instruction permit?
Correct answer: At 15, after she passes the vision, road sign and written tests
Why
The instruction permit is Step One of Missouri's Graduated Driver License (GDL) program for drivers under 18. A parent or legal guardian must give written permission and agree to provide the 40 hours of supervised practice. The required permit period of at least 182 days starts only when the permit is issued, so a teen who starts at 15 can be ready for the intermediate license soon after turning 16.
