Safe & Responsible DrivingStandalone practice
While driving, Driver C takes a call by holding his phone between his ear and shoulder so both hands stay on the wheel. Is this legal in Missouri?
Correct answer: No, because he is supporting the phone with his body
Why
The hands-free law applies to drivers of cars and commercial vehicles on any highway or property open to public traffic. Exceptions include using the phone to report an emergency and using it while the vehicle is lawfully parked. Since January 1, 2025, officers can issue a citation for a violation instead of only a warning.
