Passing target: 80% (20/25)
You have a minor crash on a busy highway. No one is hurt, and both cars can still be driven. What should you do with the cars?
A and B remain in a highway lane after a minor crash. The card states that no one is hurt and both cars are drivable.
Correct answer: Move them off the traffic lanes to the shoulder or a safe spot nearby
Why
Each minute a vehicle blocks a freeway lane backs up approaching traffic for about four minutes, and secondary crashes cause about 18 percent of Missouri traffic deaths. The rule changes when someone is hurt: do not move the injured person, and call for an ambulance and the police. At night or in bad weather, use flares, reflectors, or flashlights to warn traffic.
