Warning, Construction & Information SignsStandalone practice
You see this sign on a rural road. What should you do?

Correct answer: Slow down, look and listen for a train, and be ready to stop if needed
Why
At the crossing itself, a white X-shaped crossbuck means you must yield to trains, and flashing red lights or a lowered gate mean you must stop 15 to 50 feet from the nearest rail. Do not start across until there is room for your whole vehicle on the other side of the tracks. Where more than one track crosses the road, check for another train once the first one has passed.
