While parking, you scrape a parked car that has no one in it, and its owner is nowhere in sight. What must you do?
Correct answer: Stop, leave a written note with your contact and license details, and tell the police.
Why
Nebraska law requires a driver who damages an unattended vehicle or other property to stop and leave a written notice in a place where it will be easily seen, giving the driver's name, address, telephone number and operator's license number. The driver must also report the collision to police without unnecessary delay. Leaving without doing both is a crime, and a court may also take away your license for up to a year.
