School Zones, Railways & Work AreasStandalone practice
You stop at a crossing with two tracks and no gates. A long freight train passes on the near track. As soon as its last car goes by, what should you do?
A waits before a crossing with two sets of tracks and crossbuck signs but no gate. The card states that a train has just cleared the near track.
Correct answer: Check again in both directions for a second train before you cross.
Why
A number on a plate under the crossbuck tells you that more than one track crosses the road. At a multiple-track crossing, a passing train can block your view of another train on the next track. Also make sure there is room for your whole car on the far side before you start across.
