Parking, Reversing & Roadside StopsStandalone practice
You park facing downhill on a street with a curb. Which way should you turn your front wheels?
A is parked beside a curb on a downhill slope. A side profile identifies which way the road descends.
Correct answer: Toward the curb, so the front tire would roll into it.
Why
Facing downhill, gravity pulls the car forward, so the front tire should point into the curb. Set the parking brake and shift into Park as well. When there is no curb, uphill or downhill, turn the wheels toward the edge of the road, so a rolling car goes off the road and not into traffic.
