Parking, Reversing & Roadside StopsStandalone practice
You are looking for a parking space on a street near an intersection with a marked crosswalk. No signs limit parking, and there is no fire hydrant or traffic sign nearby. Where may you legally park?
A drives beside open curb space before a marked crosswalk at an intersection.
Correct answer: With your front bumper 25 feet back from the edge of the crosswalk.
Why
The 20-foot space lets drivers who turn at the corner see pedestrians who are about to cross, and lets pedestrians see traffic. A car parked close to the crosswalk can hide a child from an approaching driver. Nebraska also bans parking within 30 feet of a stop sign, yield sign or flashing signal at the side of the road.
