You park facing uphill on a street with a curb. Which way should you turn your front wheels?
A is parked beside a curb on an uphill slope. A side profile identifies the direction of the grade.
Correct answer: Away from the curb, so the back of the tire rests against it.
Why
Uphill beside a curb is the one case where the wheels turn away from the curb. Let the car roll back gently until the tire touches the curb, then set the parking brake and shift into Park. Nebraska law also requires you to set the brakes and turn the front wheels to the curb or side of the road when you leave a car standing on a roadway; this position still puts the tire against the curb.
