On a two-lane road, you are following a school bus. Its overhead amber warning lights begin to flash. What must you do?
A follows a school bus on a two-lane road as its overhead amber lights begin flashing. Its stop arm is folded in.
Correct answer: Slow to no more than 25 mph and prepare to stop when the red lights come on.
Why
Amber lights mean the bus is about to stop to load or unload children. Nebraska law requires drivers meeting or following the bus to slow to 25 mph or less, then stop when the red lights flash and the stop arm is out, and stay stopped until the red lights are off, the arm is pulled in and the bus starts moving. Traffic going the other way on a highway divided by a median does not have to stop.
