You come to railroad tracks marked only by a white X-shaped sign that reads RAILROAD CROSSING. There are no lights or gates. What does this sign require?

Correct answer: Slow down, look and listen, and yield to any train before you cross
Why
A crossbuck is a passive warning: it cannot tell you when a train is coming, so you must look and listen for yourself. A train moving at 60 mph or more can need more than a mile to stop, and it cannot steer around you. Cross only when there is room for your whole vehicle on the other side of the tracks.
