Warning, Construction & Information SignsStandalone practice
You see this sign, a yellow diamond with a black arrow that bends sharply to the right, beside a two-lane road. What does it warn you about?

Correct answer: The road ahead makes a sharp turn to the right.
Why
Slow down before you reach the turn, because braking hard in the turn can cause a skid, and N.J.S.A. 39:4-98 requires a reduced speed when approaching and going around a curve. When the safe speed for the turn is lower than the limit, an advisory speed plate is placed with the warning sign. A winding-road sign, with a snake-shaped arrow, warns of a series of curves.
