Parking, Reversing & Roadside StopsStandalone practice
When parking on a hill beside a curb on the right side of the road, what is the purpose of choosing the correct front-wheel direction?
A car parked facing uphill beside a curb on the right side of the road.
Correct answer: So a rolling vehicle would go into the curb and stop.
Why
Turn the wheels so an unintended roll is stopped by the curb: downhill, turn them right; uphill with a curb, turn them left. Apply the parking brake and select the appropriate transmission position. Without a curb, turn the wheels right so a roll carries the vehicle away from traffic.
