Passing target: 16 correct signs and 16 correct rules
You approach a stopped emergency vehicle with flashing lights on your side of a highway with two lanes in your direction. How should you pass it?
Car A approaches a police vehicle stopped on the paved right shoulder with red and blue lights flashing. Two lanes run in the same direction; no answer path is shown.
Correct answer: Slow to 60 km/h or the lower posted limit; move over if safe.
Why
On the same roadway as the stopped emergency vehicle, pass at no more than 60 km/h or the lower posted limit. Move into a farther lane when safe, and never use a lane occupied by the emergency vehicle. Check mirrors and blind spots before moving. The opposite roadway beyond a median is exempt from these specific provisions.
