What school-zone speed applies in Nova Scotia when children are present?
Correct answer: 30 km/h after a 50 km/h zone; 50 km/h after a faster zone.
Why
When a child is present in a designated Nova Scotia school area, the limit is 30 km/h if the preceding limit is 50 km/h, or 50 km/h if the preceding limit is higher. This condition is not restricted to school opening hours. The regulation includes a child outdoors on the highway or on land within 30 metres of its travelled centre line.
