Kara is 15 and is taking driver education. She gets a Class D learner permit today. Which requirements must she meet before she can get an intermediate license?
Correct answer: Hold the permit 180 days, log 50 supervised hours (10 at night), and be at least 16
Why
A parent or guardian certifies the 50 hours, and the supervising driver must be at least 21 and licensed for at least 2 years. The teen must also finish the free Work Zone Safe course. If the teen is convicted of a traffic offense, the 180-day period starts again from the date of the conviction. The minimum age of 16 comes from a 2026 change to the law, so a teen who starts at 15 cannot finish early.
