You and another driver collide at an intersection. No one is hurt, but your car has $3,500 in damage. A police officer comes to the scene and writes a report. What must you do about a report to DMV?
Correct answer: File your own collision report with DMV within 72 hours.
Why
A report is also required when anyone is injured or killed, when damage to property other than a vehicle is over $2,500, or when a vehicle has more than $2,500 in damage and a vehicle is towed from the scene. At the scene, you must also stop, help injured people, and exchange your name, address, driver license number, plate number and insurance information. If no one is hurt and the vehicles can move, move them out of the travel lanes first.
