Jordan is 16 and got an Oregon instruction permit on March 1. Jordan meets every other license requirement in time. What is the earliest date that Jordan can apply for a driver license?
Correct answer: September 1, six months after the permit was issued
Why
Oregon requires an applicant under 18 to hold an instruction permit for at least six months before applying for a driver license, and time with an out-of-state permit also counts. The six months give a new driver time to build experience with a qualified adult supervisor before driving alone. The license that follows is a provisional license with extra limits for new drivers.
