Licensing & Test ReadinessStandalone practice
Sam is 16 and has held an instruction permit for eight months. Sam did not take an ODOT-approved traffic safety education course. How many hours of supervised driving must Sam certify before applying for a driver license?
Correct answer: 100 hours
Why
Supervised practice lets a new driver meet many kinds of traffic, roads and weather with an experienced driver beside them. The hours count only when the supervising driver is at least 21 and has had a valid license for at least three years. If Sam takes an approved course instead of the extra 50 hours, DMV must receive proof that Sam completed it.
